Why Use a Mains-fed Water Cooler?

We're becoming increasingly aware of the damage we're doing to our environment.

According to National Geographic, in 2010 8 million tons of plastic were dumped in the ocean, and it's getting worse.

The PET bottles used by Bottled Water Coolers are frequently sanitised and re-used by the water producer, but this cannot happen indefinitely. Similarly, many water bottles will be recyleable, but again recyling can only happen so many times. Nature may eventually be able to recycle PET herself, but that’s a long way off at best.

Ethical bottled water suppliers will ensure that their end-of-life bottles are recycled into useful items like clothing, but at the end of that life there is no end in sight apart from waste in landfill or the ocean, and at the end of the day each water cooler bottle is the equivalent of around 300 carrier bags: so, for example, if your company uses 100 bottles of water a year that’s the equivalent of 30,000 carrier bags going to landfill!

Mains-fed water coolers make their own contribution to decreasing plastic waste, by removing the need for plastic water bottles, and instead dispensing the water directly from your mains supply. In doing so filters are available which will improve the taste and smell of your water.

One of the many reasons we love them!

Aside from that there’s the environmental impact of trucking tons of water around, storing it, and finally ensuring there is someone strong enough to lift it to fit to the water cooler.

Finally, it's worth noting that the only water dispensers approved by use in NHS trusts are mains-fed, as bottled water coolers have a history of water hygiene problems.
